A small quick application courtesy the wonderful Google Maps API.This shows the newest loans raising funds right now at Kiva, and puts them on a map to realise where they come from.
I really liked the concept of Kiva and want to analyse the activity on the Kiva space through a visual directive. This small little application here shows the newest loans that are registered with Kiva and allows us to see where they are physically coming from.
This is stage one of this visual directive and is just a simple Map View on the latest loans.I aim to build it further as I want to see which MFI's are the most active visually as that would indicate a healthy environment for functioning of MFI's in that physical space. It would also indicate where these MFI's are being successful in convincing the less tech-savvy of help.Besides this, I hope this directive helps us make quick interpretations of the Kiva data more easily.
Update: Stage 2 Up! The marker's size is now based upon number of loans from that particular Geo-location.Bigger marker indicates more loans from that region.
